Symptoms

Using Oracle Business Intelligence Enterprise Edition (OBIEE) Admin Tool 11.1.1.7.1 in an Exalytics environment with German language settings on local Windows PC.  When trying to generate statistics in preparation for running Summary Advisor, the statistics generation completes but reports failed queries.  The message is:

Total number of queries to be executed: 1353
Total number of queries succeeded:  1332
Total number of queries skipped: 15
Total number of queries failed: 7

Please check for errors in:  C:\ORCL\bi11gAdmin71\oraclebi\orainst\diagnostics\logs\OracleBIServerComponent\coreapplication\test_NQSAdminTool.log

The "test_NQSAdmin.log" shows the following errors:

[NQODBC] [SQL_STATE: HY000] [nQSError: 10058] A general error has occurred.
[nQSError: 43113] Message returned from OBIS.
[nQSError: 27005] Unresolved column: "Z - Sales History"."Kanäle"."Channel Class äöüß".
[NQODBC] [SQL_STATE: HY000] [nQSError: 10058] A general error has occurred.
[nQSError: 43113] Message returned from OBIS.
[nQSError: 27002] Near <SET>: Syntax error [nQSError: 26012] .

Failed to execute SQL from usage tracking data:
SET VARIABLE SA_STAT_TOTAL_QUERY_TIME_SEC=0, SKIP_PHYSICAL_QUERY_EXEC=1;/* Summary Advisor aggregate dimension row count query */ SET VARIABLE DISABLE_SUMMARY_STATS_LOGGING=1,DISABLE_CACHE_HIT=1,DISABLE_CACHE_SEED=1,DISABLE_PLAN_CACHE_SEED=1,DISABLE_PLAN_CACHE_HIT=1,SA_SAMPLING_USE_EXPECTED_CARDINALITY=0,SA_DYNAMIC_SAMPLING_LEVEL=8: select count(1) from (select_business_model  "Kanäle"."Channel Id",  "Kanäle"."Channel Desc Äöüß",  "Kanäle"."Channel Class äöüß",  "Kanäle"."Channel Total" from "99 - Sales History") DT

NOTE: In the message above, it appears that OBI Admin Tool is not correctly translating the special characters in the “Z – Sales History” column.  It shows: "Kanäle" when it should actually show: ”Kanäle”.

Changes

The Repository Creation Utility (RCU) was used to create the OBIEE repository schemas. The character set on the applicable database is set to AL32UTF8 as required per the Oracle Fusion Middleware System Requirements and Specifications for Oracle Identity and Access Management 11g Release 2 (11.1.2.1), E38978-01.
