SAM-QFS - Drive Will Not "idle" and Becomes Unresponsive or Inaccessible

Information in this document applies to any platform.
SAMFS 5.2.1, running 'samu', trying to issue an 'idle' command to a drive and there is no response.
Tried issuing a 'stage' request and the stager selects another drive. The following stage requests did the same, always bypassing the drive that is not responding.
No related error message found in devlog, /var/adm/messages, sam-log and stager trace files.
No drive issue reported in ACSLS. ACSLS drive status is online and available.
'mt -f <dev> status' and 'luxadm' commands do not show any problem with the drive and the drive configuration.
Drives are not shared.
