Information in this document applies to any platform.

Users attempting to access Windows 8.1 Desktops via Oracle Virtual Desktop (VDI) 3.5 result in error code 0x000000C4 seen as the Desktop starts up. This is due to a bug in the VirtualBox 4.2 that ships with VDI. The bug is resolved in VirtualBox 4.3 but this is not supported with VDI 3.5. This is why initially, Windows 8.1 Desktops are not supported with Oracle Virtual Desktop (VDI) 3.5, as described in the Administration Guide.

Since the release of VDI 3.5, however, a fix has been implemented in VirtualBox 4.2.22.  This Knowledge Article provides the steps needed to allow Windows 8.1 Desktops to be used with VDI 3.5. This now allows Windows 8.1 Desktops to be used but is still not officially supported with VDI 3.5

NOTE: This article does not cover cloning and cloning has not currently been tested by Oracle
