Last updated on JULY 08, 2022

Applies to:

Oracle Hierarchical Storage Manager (HSM) and StorageTek QFS Software - Version 5.2 to 6.0 [Release 5.0 to 6.0]
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

The 'sam-archiverd' and 'sam-arfind' processes are aborting with core file.

Message 4027: sam-arfind... exit status 008b

These events are observed:

  1. arfind exits with code 008b
  2. archiverd crashes, too; but restarts.
  3. however, the old narcopy process becomes defunct and may still have resources allocated to it.
  4. Direct I/O Timeouts happen which require all tape activities to be idle'd as well as restarting the robotics daemons -i.e. 'samd stop' and 'samd start'.
