Multi-Head Sun Ray Client Does Not Start Multiple Screen Oracle Virtual Desktop Infrastructure 3.5 Session With Microsoft Remote Desktop Protocol (Doc ID 1621443.1)

Last updated on DECEMBER 08, 2015

Applies to:

Oracle Virtual Desktop Infrastructure - Version 3.5 to 3.5 [Release 3.0]
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

Recent versions of Microsoft Remote Desktop Protocol (MSRDP) offer the ability to recognize multiple local monitors rather than simply a single local logical monitor of a size aggregated from the local physical monitors. See the following URL for details of this feature:

http://www.techrepublic.com/blog/windows-and-office/use-multiple-monitors-with-windows-7s-remote-desktop-connection

Oracle Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) 3.5 makes use of this functionality using a Sun Ray Multi Head Group (MHG) as per:

http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E35310_01/E41121/html/MultipleMonitor-Multihead.html

when enabled though, instead of acting correctly and starting a multi-head MSRDP session (no spanned display but multiple RDP displays) it results in one RDP display on the primary and a black screen on the other monitors or a single task bar is spread across all monitors rather than one for each monitor.
