(Doc ID 1629921.1)
Last updated on OCTOBER 05, 2022
Applies to:
Emulex FC HBA - Version All Versions to All Versions [Release All Releases]Information in this document applies to any platform.
Goal
There are some fatal events that might cause an Oracle EMulex adapter to go offline. To gather further diagnostics about this condition, a firmware dump of the card is automatically collected before the HBA shuts down.
Shall such an event occur, you'll see similar messages to these ones ( this example was taken from emlxs device instance 3 ):
Beginning with Solaris emlxs driver version 2.40d onwards, the driver will automatically allocate kernel memory to collect the firmware core dump for further diagnosis.
The purpose of this document is providing the steps to either:
1/ Gather the firmware dump that has been automatically saved after a fatal condition on the adapter.
2/ Manually collect a firmware dump on an Emulex card if required by Oracle support.
