Symptoms
If after the installation of patches the system shows a panic like this (and might be continuously trying to boot in a loop)...
Unfortunately this error in itself isn't very helpful, but once the system is booted from some alternative media an analysis of the root pool and its file systems and boot enviroment can be carried out.
