Why is the time not adjusted on specific NTP client? (Doc ID 1662191.1)

Last updated on SEPTEMBER 29, 2020

Applies to:

Solaris Operating System - Version 8 6/00 U1 to 10 1/13 U11 [Release 8.0 to 10.0]
Solaris Operating System - Version 8.0 to 10 8/11 U10 [Release 8.0 to 10.0]
Information in this document applies to any platform.

On the NTP client system,

"ntpdate" shows the time adjustment and xntpd (or ntpd) is running,

but "ntpq -p" does not show "synchronization(* asterisk)" with the NTP server and the time is not adjusted on the ntp client.

Other NTP clients with the same config in the /etc/inet/ntp.conf are being synchronized.
