Solaris Cluster 3.x Live Upgrade Failed to Migrate /global/.devices/node@X to new 1-way Solaris Volume Manager Boot Mirror after luactivate (Doc ID 1664579.1)

Last updated on DECEMBER 09, 2021

Applies to:

Solaris Cluster - Version 3.1 to 3.3 U2 [Release 3.1 to 3.3]
Oracle Solaris on SPARC (64-bit)
Oracle Solaris on x86-64 (64-bit)

Symptoms

Preparing an Oracle Solaris Cluster (OSC) node for patching.

In this example the Solaris Volume Manager (SVM) 2-way mirrors were broken and a new 1-way mirror were created from the detached submirrors. The new 1-way mirror will be used for the target Boot Environment (new_be).

Example output after the boot mirror were splitted:

However, the result is that /dev/md/dsk/d70 contains a nice new filesystem but no content except for lost+found. After new_be was activated and the node rebooted we find that /global/.devices/node@2 was still mounted on /dev/md/dsk/d7.
