Solaris Cluster HA-LDom Fails Doing 'live' Migration with "normal failover will be performed" or "Password cannot be longer than 256 characters" due to Wrong Value in 'Password_file' resource property (Doc ID 1668567.1)

Last updated on FEBRUARY 08, 2019

Applies to:

Solaris Cluster - Version 3.3 U2 to 4.3 [Release 3.3 to 4.3]
Oracle Solaris on SPARC (64-bit)
Does only apply for resource type version SUNW.ldom:5 or lower.
Does NOT apply for SUNW.ldom:6 or higher. (SC4.2 SRU4 deliver SUNW.ldom:6)

Symptoms

On Solaris Cluster 3.3 or 4.1 and later HA-Ldom data service (Oracle VM Server for SPARC) may fail to migrate 'live' resource configured with MIGRATION_TYPE=MIGRATE if the password file is not correctly setup.

The error message shows that normal failover will be performed and the result code return an error related to the password.

In this example the failover LDom is called 'fgd0'

Changes

The bug 15732240 introduced a new feature to provide an encrypted password
