Copy and Paste Works Sporadically With Oracle Virtual Desktop Client 3.2 on Ubuntu
(Doc ID 1671606.1)
Last updated on MAY 21, 2014
Applies to:Oracle Virtual Desktop Client - Version 3.2 to 3.2 [Release 3.0]
The environment consists of Oracle Virtual Desktop Client (OVDC) 3.2 users connecting from supported Ubuntu clients to Windows sessions offered by Oracle Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) 3.5 or Sun Ray Server (SRS) 5.4.x.
In this scenario, users may report that attempts to copy and paste from the Ubuntu Desktop session (local client) to the remotely hosted Windows guest sessions may sometimes fail, with no data pasted.
- Copying from a local Linux editor into remotely accessed Internet Explorer -> Paste does not work as expected.
- Copying from a local Linux editor into a remotely accessed Windows editor -> Paste does not work as expected.
Meanwhile, copying data the opposite direction works all the time:
- Copying from the remotely accessed Windows editor to the local Linux editor, works as expected.
- Copying from the remotely accessed Windows editor to local Thunderbird session, works as expected.
Please Note: There is also known limitation in which copying more than 500 kilobytes of text will always fail. The behavior is independent of that scenario, and is seen when copying a buffer below this limit. Details regarding this limitation are outlined within the published OVDC release notes.
