Symptoms
Unable to set color depth to 8bpp using the onboard ast graphics device.
# svcs cde-login

# svccfg
svc:> select application/x11/x11-server
svc:/application/x11/x11-server> setprop options/default_depth=8
svc:/application/x11/x11-server> quit
# svcadm restart cde-login
