How to Clear FMA Fault 'defect.sunos.kernel.panic' (Doc ID 1900128.1)

Last updated on DECEMBER 21, 2024

Applies to:

Solaris Operating System - Version 11.0 to 11.4 [Release 11.0]
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Goal

When Solaris kernel panic reboots, the fault management software will diagnose a fault event to track the panic.  This is a major event requiring system administrator attention.  However, sometimes the system panic could be an intentional activity, for example a deliberate test of crash dump generation.  For such cases, if the system administrators decide the event could be safely ignore, they could clear it with the fmadm command.
