Unable to ssh to a server- Receive error :Server refused to allocate pty (Doc ID 1903444.1)

Goal


Customer is getting the message below at the server side when an ssh is made:


Jul  2 00:22:39 t2000-syd04-c sshd[9177]: error: /dev/ptmx: Permission denied
Jul  2 00:22:39 t2000-syd04-c sshd[9177]: error: session_pty_req: session 0 alloc failed

 and when they do ssh:

$ ssh -l user1  XX.XX.XX.XX
Password:
Password:
Oracle Corporation      SunOS 5.10      Generic Patch   January 2005
                                                                    DISPLAY set to: "topaz.local:15

 

They also , see error in verbose mode as below:

Server refused to allocate pty
