Symptoms
Solaris Cluster for HA-Samba would fail due to a smbclient login failure with a NT_STATUS_LOGON_FAILURE error
$ /usr/bin/smbclient
Version 3.6.12
session setup failed: NT_STATUS_LOGON_FAILURE
The /var/adm/messages file would record messages containing
Date hostname SC[SUNWscsmb.samba.probe]:nas-rg:samba-res: [ID 182069 daemon.error] check_smbd - Samba server <hostname> not working, failed to connect to samba-resource <share_name>
The error message gave the indication that the cause was the same as the post Patch installation failure discussed in Knowledge Document 1319431.1. The /usr/sbin/smbd processes were running. Further investigation lead to the smbclient failure being the cause.
Changes
Solaris Samba Patch 119757-27 and later was installed that updated Samba and its smbclient application to version 3.6.23
