Last updated on NOVEMBER 17, 2023

Applies to:

Oracle Hierarchical Storage Manager (HSM) and StorageTek QFS Software - Version 5.2 to 6.0 [Release 5.0 to 6.0]
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

SAM is running out of memory resources and cannot fork sam-dbupd processes:

The customer uses fsalogd but not sam-dbupd. However, whenever fsalogd starts, sam-dbupd is started as well. The samdb.conf file is empty and sam-dbupd is restarting itself all the time because it has no configuration.

Changes

Enabled the HSM sideband database, 'samdb', feature.
