In Oracle Virtual Desktop Infrastructure Environment, Applications Are Unable To Start on Solaris 11.1 Desktop On NFS Mounted Home Directory (Doc ID 1930305.1)

Last updated on MAY 05, 2017

Applies to:

Oracle Virtual Desktop Infrastructure - Version 3.5 to 3.5.2 [Release 3.0]
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

In a Oracle Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) installation, Solaris 11.1 Desktops are configured to use Network File System (NFS) Mounted Home Directory. Users may have difficulties running applications in their Desktops.  For example, when trying to run FireFox, it will start up normally but dies as soon as it loses locks on files in the user's profile directory.

NOTE: This has only been reported with Solaris 11.1 Desktops running in VDI environment.
