Details

Oracle Support has made changes to the way we receive customer data by establishing a new corporate data transport capability. As a result, we are altering the endpoint for the embedded file upload capability in the ZFS Appliance.

The end points will switch from the Legacy Sun Microsystems supportfiles.sun.com anonymous FTP/HTTP upload site, to our new FTPS capable transport.oracle.com site.

NOTE:  supportfiles.sun.com site is scheduled to be shut down at the end of March 2015, which will impact your ability to automatically or manually upload support bundles from the appliance directly to Oracle Support.

NOTE: Due the Service Request numbering rolling over to 11 digits (starting with 3-10) systems with a release of 2011.1.x.x and 2013.1.x will cause customers to be unable to upload a support bundle to Oracle, regardless of which location the file is placed.  This issue has been resolved, and the versions below have been updated accordingly.  For more information please see 1957849.1 Oracle ZFS Storage Appliance Software (ZFSSA) Does not Recognize the New 3-xxxxxxxxxxx

Actions

To ensure the best possible support experience Oracle Support recommends you upgrade your ZFS Appliances as follows:

2011.1.9.2 is contained in patch 20311531.

2013.1.2.13 is contained in patch 20275084.

Note: If you have an Exalogic solution, this is included in the Exalogic July 2014 PSU.  Apply the Exalogic July 2014 PSU at your earliest convenience.

Note: If you have applied an Interim Delivery of Relief patch (IDR) to your system, you should contact Oracle Support to identify whether your specific IDR has been implemented in the releases specified above prior to updating.

After upgrading, users will notice the following changes to how Auto Service Request (ASR) and Support File Uploads are managed on the appliance:

Please review:   Oracle ZFS Storage Appliance: How to Transition from supportfiles.sun.com to transport.oracle.com (1666925.1)

NOTE:  Customers running a release without the change:

  • Bundle uploads will continue to be allowed using the User Interface until the beginning of April 2015, to allow for the install base to transition to the new code.  After that point, support files uploads using this method are expected to be shut down.
  • ASR telemetry and SR creation will not be affected, although customers may experience delays in resolution to their SRs.
  • Customers will need to download any support file bundle locally, and upload using the methods described within Document 1547088.1 entitled "How to Upload Files to Oracle Support".
