Sun Storage Common Array Manager (CAM) - Version 5.0 and laterInformation in this document applies to any platform.
Goal
This document describes how to enable read-ahead cache for Sun Storage 2500, 2500-M2, and 6000 Arrays.
Read-ahead cache can improve performance, particularly with read-intensive applications that use sequential read. In the event that a volume was not originally configured to use read-ahead cache, the steps in this document describe how to enable it.
Volumes are created from pools, and each pool is associated with a profile. It is at the profile level that read-ahead cache is configured.
The example below is an excerpt from the storageArrayProfile.txt file, collected as part of supportData. The setting is shown as "Cache read ahead multiplier", where only two values may appear:
- "3" indicates read-ahead cache is enabled.
- "0" indicates read-ahead cache is disabled.
