Running pfiles on the ocssd.bin process could trigger RAC panic (Doc ID 1939868.1)

Last updated on JULY 04, 2022

Applies to:

Solaris Operating System - Version 10 3/05 to 11.2 [Release 10.0 to 11.0]
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

It has been documented in 1487321.1 that running explorer -w all on Solaris could trigger RAC panic.  The explorer script has been modified (by 7.1) so that it will not attempt to capture pfiles output for the ocssd.bin process.

However, such RAC panic could still occur if a customer manually runs the pfiles command on the ocssd.bin process, or an in-house or third-party script to invoke pfiles on the ocssd.bin process.
