Oracle Explorer(8.02 or below) may take a very long runtime in collecting ZFS information, calling mdb(1) with "::zfs_dbgmsg -v". (Doc ID 1939874.1)

Last updated on JUNE 05, 2022

Applies to:

Solaris Operating System - Version 10 and later
Explorer Data Collector - Version 6.4 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

An execution of Oracle Explorer 8.02 or below may take a long time to run to completion. It may take up to hours for it to complete.

The followings would be observed:

  1. If the Oracle Explorer instance is run interactively, the console session will shown that it stops at "zfs: RUNNING"
  2. Note the specific invocation of "::zfs_dbgmsg -v" was called with -v.

*** NOTE *** If the above observations were not seen in your instance of slow Oracle Explorer run, it may be result of some other issue. Please refer to  Troubleshooting of Oracle Explorer Data Collector as part of Oracle Services Tools Bundle (STB) for general troubleshooting.
