Symptoms
After adding new IBM FAStT array storage devices and mapping them via SAN to a Solaris server, the format utility shows the drives as "drive type unknown"
Any attempt to label these storage devices fails with "Current Disk Type is not set."
Changes
Three new devices were created on the IBM array and mapped to the Solaris server, apparently in the same way that previous devices were created and mapped.
