Solaris Volume Manager (SVM) Submirrors on HP HSV210 Storage/LUN Drop into 'Needs maintenance' Each Time when Explorer Collects the Data on Solaris 9 (Doc ID 1945519.1)

Last updated on MARCH 21, 2017

Applies to:

Solaris SPARC Operating System - Version 9 GA to 9 9/05 HW U9 [Release 9.0]
Sun Solaris Volume Manager (SVM) - Version 11.9.0 to 11.9.0 [Release 11.0]
Oracle Solaris on SPARC (64-bit)
Oracle Solaris on SPARC (32-bit)

In this case the system/server is running Solaris 9 with attached HP HSV210 storage/LUN. And each time when running the explorer to collect data 'scsi command timeouts' will appear which are resulting in 'Needs maintenance' state for the Solaris Volume Manager (SVM) submirrors of the mentioned storage.

Excerpt from /var/adm/messages file:

It is also possible that both submirrors drop into maintenance one of which has the additional attribute last-erred.

All affected LUNs will become accessible again once the luxadm commands from the disk section from explorer have finished.
