Symptoms

Numerous "Slot xxx not occupied" errors like this:

2014/09/28 11:27:49 5053 [2550:11] media_move.c:1881 detail Slot 575 not occupied

When it takes more than 10 minutes to mount a tape, SAMFS times out with these error messages:

2014/10/08 12:57:08 5177 [20851:16] transport.c:521 time Move cartridge: from 1066(asis) to 505: time 618 seconds

The tape does get mounted ( after 618 seconds )

2014/10/08 12:57:08 5179 [20851:16] transport.c:622 detail Move cartridge complete: from 1066(asis) to 505

However, SAMFS has no knowledge that the mount succeeded and continues to retry the failed mount request.

These are the associated SCSI errors, in the system messages file, after the SAMFS Mount request times out.  At this time, the tape is already in the drive:

Changes

No known SAMFS processing issue but there could be library performance issue that causes a mount request more than 10 minutes to complete
