Last updated on FEBRUARY 09, 2018

Applies to:

Oracle Library LTFS (Linear Tape File System) - Version All Versions and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Two tapes cannot be put  in online status.

ltfs -V
LTFS version 1.2.6 (20130711_orcl)
LTFS Format Specification version 2.0.0

We tried to load the tapes in the drive via ACSLS and run ltfsck, but no change.

In the LTFS logs there were errors that it could not mount the volume  :

Msg": "Attempting to load the medium" }, { "Type": "LTFS16014I", "Msg": "Checking LTFS file system on '\/dev\/st1'" }, { "Type": "LTFS12015I", "Msg": "Attempting to load the medium" },{ "Type": "LTFS20064E", "Msg": "Locate failed (-1)" }, { "Type": "LTFS12037E", "Msg": "Cannot seek: backend call failed (-1)" }, { "Type": "LTFS11173E", "Msg": "Cannot read label (-1): failed to seek to block 0 (partition 1)" }, { "Type": "LTFS11171E", "Msg": "Failed to read label (-1) from partition 1" }, { "Type": "LTFS16048E", "Msg": "Cannot read volume: failed to read the partition labels (-1)" }, { "Type": "LTFS16080E", "Msg": "Cannot check volume (8)" } ] } } }

The error message indicate that we can't read  the LTFS  label.

However the tapes were not relabeled.

Firmware of  T10KD was downgraded from Code Version : 4.07.107-5.40 to Code 4.06.106-5.40
