utstart Command Fails with "arithmetic syntax error" when Running Sun Ray Software within a Solaris Local Zone (Doc ID 1957143.1)

Last updated on DECEMBER 30, 2014

Applies to:

Sun Ray Software - Version SRS 5.4.3 and later
Oracle Solaris on x86-64 (64-bit)

Sun Ray Administrators may find that the utstart command fails with "arithmetic syntax error" if there is more than 1 dbus-daemon process running on Solaris 11 system where Sun Ray Software (SRS) has been installed.
The issue may be seen in an environment when there are additional local zones configured and running on the same Solaris 11 host.  As there is a second dbus-daemon process running on same system from within a local zone, the utstart utility fails in the utstartimpl script.

An example of this error:

Configuring a new Solaris local zone can trigger this problem or any activity that generates multiple dbus-daemon processes.
