Solaris Cluster Shows "Fail" for New Global DID Device with "WARNING: did_ioctl: cannot update driver data for did instance ..., because it is currently held open" (Doc ID 1959524.1)

Last updated on SEPTEMBER 10, 2024

Applies to:

Solaris Cluster - Version 3.3 U2 to 4.3 [Release 3.3 to 4.3]
Oracle Solaris on x86-64 (64-bit)
Oracle Solaris on SPARC (64-bit)

Symptoms

After presenting a new pair of LUNs for this Solaris Cluster, ran 'cldev populate'.

The 'cldev status' command reports one node seeing the DIDs as 'OK', the other node (active) sees the DID's as "Fail".

The equivalent 'scdidadm -R d8' command also reported an error.

Changes

Delete and recreate some LUNs and then re-add the LUNs to this cluster.
