Symptoms
Connected system via Brocade SFP+ cable to switch for network connectivity (no FCoE). Interface seems to be up and ok but we unable to access other hosts.
Looking at the switch side we can see that the swtich is reporting the "line protocol up" showing the physical connection of the port:
TenGigabitEthernet 1/0/9 is up, line protocol is up (connected)
On the Solaris side the interface is shown with link and running but trying to ping other hosts fails and no network packets are being received from the swtich. Snoop shows outbound traffic only (e.g. ARp requests).
If the single port is part of a link aggregation then the switch is additionally reporting a link protocol down:
Port-channel 2 is up, line protocol is down (link protocol down)
