svc:/system/sysidtool:net (sysidtool) is off-line: Network Service Initialization and Availability Problems in Non-global Zones (Doc ID 1968448.1)

Last updated on AUGUST 17, 2016

Applies to:

Solaris SPARC Operating System - Version 10 9/10 U9 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

There are certain known scenarios where global and non-global zones become out of sync with regard to patches. When this occurs, fixes and updates are not
applied unilaterally. Native Solaris 10 non-global zones built from those scenarios often have problems with network security services (ssh, Kerberos, etc.), logins and logging
and other common network services in the non-global zone.

Common problems reported include inability to login via ssh as well as other necessary services (NFS, sendmail, rpcbind, etc.) not able to startup.

The affected services will register as "offline" or "uninitialized":
