Communication issues due to a non-global, shared-ip zone defrouter on a global zone subnet (Doc ID 1969030.1)

Last updated on OCTOBER 10, 2019

Applies to:

Solaris Operating System - Version 10 10/08 U6 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Zones - including the global zone - of a system experience intermittent communication issues with systems on remote subnets.     Sometimes connections and "pings" between remote systems work fine, sometimes they do not.   The remote systems / IP addresses which can be reached and communicated with are not always the same.

The system was configured with shared-ip non-global zones using the "defrouter"  zonecfg(1m) option, which was introduced with Solaris 10 update 6 (10/08).
