DNS client: timeout and retry behaviour in Solaris 11 when no DNS server can be reached (Doc ID 2007164.1)

In the situation of network outages or similar events it may happen that the DNS client on a Solaris 11 system cannot connect to any of the name servers that are contained in the configuration of the DNS client. This document shall explain the behaviour of the DNS client when no DNS server can be reached.
