Purpose

This document describes troubleshooting communication issues between nodes over an Infiniband fabric.

There are three commands that can be used to narrow down where in the different layers of the Infiniband fabric the communications may be failing.
It can be at the physical layer, IB layer, IP layer, or the RDS layer.

The three commands that can be used to easily diagnose these three layers are ibping, ping, and rdsping.

If any one of these three pings are successful, the physical layer is working.
