Exalogic: vServer Creation Takes a Long Time or Fails After a Few Days of Uptime (Doc ID 2016700.1)

Last updated on NOVEMBER 14, 2022

Applies to:

Oracle Exalogic Elastic Cloud Software - Version 2.0.6.2.0 to 2.0.6.2.1
Enterprise Manager Ops Center - Version 12cR3 (12.3) to 12cR3 (12.3) [Release 12.0]
Linux x86-64

Symptoms

There is a known issue with EM Ops Center bits that are included in a fresh install of EECS 2.0.6.2.0 and in the April 2015 PSU (2.0.6.2.1) for Exalogic Virtual. This issue does not affect Exalogic racks running January 2015 PSU, although at 2.0.6.2.0, and other older EECS versions.

Guest vServer creation in a fresh install of 2.0.6.2.0 or after applying April 2015 PSU (2.0.6.2.1) completes successfully in a few minutes without any issues. However, after a few days of uptime, the following issues are observed even without any changes to the environment:

-    vServer creation takes a very long time (approx. 30 mins or longer)
-    vServer creation fails

In addition to Guest vServer creation, other EMOC jobs listed below also take longer to complete or eventually fail:

-    Create vNet
-    Delete vNet
-    Create Account
-    Delete Account
-    Start Guest vServer

Several SSH connections are observed to be open between the Proxy Control processes and the InfiniBand Gateway switches. Tens of connections are observed to each Gateway Switch.

Perform the following steps to confirm that the env is affected by this issue:

  1. Login as root to each Gateway Switch.

  2. Run the following command:
  3. If the output is higher than 20, the environment is affected by this issue.
