Redhat Virtual Machines Fail to Respond to Mouse and Keyboard Input After Resumption From a Saved Runtime State in VirtualBox (Doc ID 2016754.1)

Last updated on SEPTEMBER 23, 2022

Applies to:

Oracle VM VirtualBox - Version 4.3 to 4.3 [Release 4.0]
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

Virtualbox provides the feature to save the runtime state of a Guest Virtual Machine (VM).  Virtualbox users may find that resumed Red Hat guest VMs can hang, and will stop responding to mouse movement/focus and keyboard input.  Details on the Save feature can be found at:

https://www.virtualbox.org/manual/ch01.html#idp91381168

When this problem happens, the user can still ssh/telnet to the Guest VM.  Also, switching to the text console of the VM (by default Host Key+F1) does not exhibit the problem.
