Tuning the igb interface in Solaris 11 or Solaris 10u11 for high packet rate environments to avoid packet loss (Doc ID 2034693.1)

Symptoms

A customer was reporting igb buffer overflows, as shown by kstat missed_packets and norcvbuf counters, on igb NICs dedicated to high packet rate multicast exchange traffic.


The platform in this case was an X4-8 x86 machine, although this may also happen on SPARC systems with igb interfaces.

Changes

 Packet rates increased.
