Symptoms

The following storage has been known to report this issue:

-IBM XIV Violin array

-Oracle Flash Storage FS1-2

This is a Solaris QLogic  (qlc) driver issue and not storage array dependent

Customer is trying to map new LUNs greater than 256  from the IBM Violin array  but the Solaris qlc driver fails to configure them.

The following is a test to map LUN 300:

This is what is logged in the messages file:

 Max_LUN=16384 decodes to 0x3FFF , first 2bytes =0xFF = 256

 So the Qlogic qlc driver is reporting LUN 300 exceeded maximum  LUN 256
