Oracle Solaris on SPARC (64-bit)

Purpose

This document gives an introduction to OVM Templates on the SPARC platform.  It will introduce the command line utilities to create, deploy and configure templates and show how to deploy templates on standalone systems.  This document will use the life cycle of a sample template to demonstrate a simple use case.  It will not go into the details of template authoring.  It will enable you to get started with OVM Templates on SPARC.

Scope

In this document, it is assumed that you have basic knowledge of  the SPARC platform and hypervisor as well as basic Solaris system administrator knowledge.  Based on a simple example, it will introduce the tools to create, configure and deploy templates on SPARC systems.  Many details not required for the simple example will not be covered.  Those should be studied in the template authoring guide.  While this document focuses on standalone systems it also touches on templates for SuperCluster where this is relevant.
