L1400 Router - A Need to Save Configuration Slot Addition, Partition and Aggregation License Files
(Doc ID 2064450.1)
Last updated on MARCH 17, 2025
Applies to:
Sun StorageTek L1400 Tape Library - Version All Versions to All Versions [Release All Releases]Information in this document applies to any platform.
Impact:
If a customer has slot licensing, partitioning licensing, continuous capacity licensing, and/or library aggregation licensing, they must save the configuration file off the Interface Control Module prior to being replaced.
If this is not done, the customer will lose all of their licensing and there is no way to get the information back unless the original Interface Control Module is still available.
Contributing Factors
1- L1400 customers whom have purchased any licensed features.
2- code lower than 5.8.0c or current code 5.8.25 can cause loss of access to these files also
Symptoms
Customer will no long have their licensed features that they purchased.
Goal
Root Cause:
This is caused by replacing the Interface Control Module without saving the configuration file off of the Interface Control Module first.
If this is not done, there is no way for Oracle to re-issue the licenses to the customer as 'Crossroads' EOL'd the Interface Control Module and no longer provides support or licenses for the product.
Identification of Affected Parts :
No visual inspection is needed as the Interface Control Module just would need to have the configuration file retrieved from it and stored in a safe and known place.
