(Doc ID 2069454.1)
Last updated on APRIL 07, 2022
Applies to:
Sun Solaris Volume Manager (SVM) - Version 11.10.0 and laterSolaris Operating System - Version 10 10/09 U8 and later
Oracle Solaris on SPARC (64-bit)
Oracle Solaris on x86-64 (64-bit)
Symptoms
SVM commands return an error against /etc/lvm/lock.
The meta devices will not be affected by the missing /etc/lvm directory. The metastat command will still show the state of the devices and the devices will still be usable. The /etc/lvm/lock file needs to be created for any changes to be made with meta commands such as metainit, metattach, metadb, etc.
