Purpose
Solaris has forward binary compatibility only.
Applications linked against a particular version of libc must fail on older versions of libc with error messages such as
# sudo -l
ld.so.1: sudo: fatal: libc.so.1: version `SUNW_1.22.7' not found (required by file /usr/local/bin/sudo)
ld.so.1: sudo: fatal: libc.so.1: open failed: No such file or directory
ld.so.1: sudo: fatal: libc.so.1: version `SUNW_1.22.7' not found (required by file /usr/local/bin/sudo)
ld.so.1: sudo: fatal: libc.so.1: open failed: No such file or directory
This document provides a list of minimum patch revisions which provide a certain version of libc.
