Behavior Of Printf( "%s", NULL) Changed In Solaris 11 Vs Solaris 10
(Doc ID 2069940.1)
Last updated on DECEMBER 23, 2022
Applies to:
Solaris Operating System - Version 11.0 and laterInformation in this document applies to any platform.
Goal
Oracle changed the behavior of the *printf() family of functions in the case where a null pointer is passed in for a %s formatter argument.
Previously the printf() function would crash with a SEGV, unless the library 0@0.so.1 were preloaded, in which case an empty string would be used in the printf() output.
What is the current behavior?
