Symptoms

Oracle Solaris 10 Servers
NON-Oracle Veritas Volume Manager (VxVM)
NON-Oracle EMC PowerPath Multipathing Software (EMCpp)

NON-Oracle FC Switches
NON-Oracle EMC Storage


This problem is observed on Oracle Solaris 10 Servers connected to the SAN to access EMC storage arrays using EMC PowerPath Multipathing Software (EMCpp) and Veritas VxVM.

When adding or removing LUNs from EMC storage array, the problem observed is that VxVM vxconfigd process is core dumping, ie:



There are no other errors on the /var/adm/messages files when the problem occurs.

Veritas VxVM is a third party product from Symantec, not supported by Oracle.

 

Changes

Customer updated Veritas VxVM, EMC PowerPath and Solaris patches.
