Symptoms
Trying to launch an Secure Global Desktop (SGD) X application that is based on Java Web Start (javaws) results in a Java splash screen that disappears after a second but nothing else. The splash screen is expected but the actual application should appear after that.
This should be recognized as distinct from using Java Web Start to authenticate to the SGD server (https://support.oracle.com/knowledge/Sun Microsystems/2182955_1.html). This document discusses applications that are themselves JWS applications and are provisioned and launched through SGD.
