Last updated on FEBRUARY 03, 2019

Applies to:

Solaris Operating System - Version 11.2 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

System is running x86

A newly created kernel zone, then set some nfs shares, then set file-mac-profile=strict and reboot:

The nfs/server smf service fails to come up:

$ cat /system/volatile/network-nfs-server:default.log
[ Aug 6 17:24:37 Disabled. ]
[ Aug 6 17:24:55 Enabled. ]
[ Aug 6 17:24:56 Executing start method ("/lib/svc/method/nfs-server start"). ]
error chowning stable storage directory: Read-only file system: /var/nfs/v4_state. Exiting
/lib/svc/method/nfs-server: nfsd failed with 1
[ Aug 6 17:24:56 Method "start" exited with status 95. ]
[ Aug 6 17:24:56 Stopping for maintenance due to service_request. ]
[ Aug 6 17:24:56 Stopping for maintenance due to service_request. ]

It works fine with fixed-configuration profile.

Is it expected not to work with strict profile?
