ldom: space usage between CDOM's zvol used as vdisk and zpool built from that vdisk on guest (Doc ID 2092666.1)

Last updated on AUGUST 01, 2016

Solaris Operating System - Version 10 3/05 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Goal

Here is a an example to demonstrate why there is a difference between guest zpool and CDOM's zvol reported size.

So, rewinding our zpool to an earlier txg allow us to access the deleted file because the space used by the file was still used/allocated by previous txgs and the fact that Copy on Write (COW) do always write modified data to a new location.
