Oracle HSM: Solaris 11.3 With SMB 2.1 Performance Issues (Doc ID 2097863.1)

Last updated on MARCH 01, 2018

Applies to:

Oracle Hierarchical Storage Manager (HSM) and StorageTek QFS Software - Version 6.0 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

When running with SMB 2.1, certain file types (specifically word/excel/powerpoint documents) being written/saved on Windows 7, 8, 10 platforms "hang" and have extremely high latency to save, sometimes taking over 1 to 2 minutes to save a file, whereas, back on SMB 1.x on Solaris 11.2, it would be almost instantaneous.

We've tested on Mac OS X and it is also exhibiting similarly strange behavior, but perhaps not to the extent that Windows OS's do.

Changes

Upgraded from Solaris 11.2 to 11.3
