Solaris Cluster HA-Zones, a Service/Application Managed with sczsmf within Failover Zone (sczbt) can Restart even if sczsmf Resource is Unmonitored or Resource Group Suspended (Doc ID 2100156.1)

Last updated on SEPTEMBER 04, 2024

Applies to:

Solaris Cluster - Version 3.1 to 4.4 [Release 3.1 to 4.4]
Oracle Solaris on SPARC (64-bit)
Oracle Solaris on x86-64 (64-bit)

Symptoms

In this scenario Solaris Cluster HA-Zones agent is used to control a local zone as failover zone. Additionally the Solaris Cluster zone SMF component (sczsmf) of the HA-Zones agent is used to control a service/application in the failover zone. In such a case the sczsmf can automatically restart the service/application if the service/application terminates or was stopped manually.

This can happen even if the cluster resource is unmonitored or if the appropriate resource group is suspended. Which means "care" is needed if doing maintenance for such a controlled service/application.

Unwanted restarts of the service can lead to data issues with the application.
