Information in this document applies to any platform.
After upgrading a system to Solaris 11.3 (or newer) the legacy configuration file /etc/resolv.conf may get removed or may get restored to any older configuration that the system had used at any time before.
The same can also be noticed when trying to export the configuration of the DNS-client from SMF properties into the legacy resolv.conf(4) file by using the nscfg(1M) command with very verbose options.
A Solaris 11.x system may experience this issue after it has got upgraded from any pre-Solaris 11.3 version to Solaris 11.3 (or higher).
