Solaris 11 May Panic When Running Qlogic qaucli Utility - Deadlock: cycle in blocking chain (Doc ID 2106732.1)

Last updated on OCTOBER 05, 2022

Applies to:

Solaris Operating System - Version 11.2 to 11.2 [Release 11.0]
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

A SPARC T5-2 primary domain running Solaris 11.2 SRU 9.5.0 with two Oracle Qlogic FC HBAs connected to the SAN to access several Hitachi disk storage arrays.

Sequence of events:

1. Several days prior, consistent Link OFFLINE / ONLINE events were logged against one FC HBA port every 8-9 minutes.

This was likely due to a new Oracle utility fwupdate that calls a tool qaucli (supplied by Qlogic), which causes the ASIC on the Qlogic HBA to reset and trigger the Link OFFLINE / ONLINE condition on the Fibre Channel link.

This issue has been documented in bug 20980370, see also:
