T5-1B After Blade Service Processor replacement cannot configure network settings to enable new firmware to be flashed (Doc ID 2108364.1)

Last updated on AUGUST 13, 2020

Applies to:

Sun Blade 6000 System - Version All Versions to All Versions [Release All Releases]
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Blade Service Processor had failed and was replaced.

This then resulted in Unrecognized Chassis: This module is installed in an unknown or unsupported chassis. You must upgrade the firmware to a newer version that supports this chassis.

This is a normal message and means that the firmware must be updated.

To do this the network needed to be configured so from an ILOM CLI session on the CMM using drill down this was attempted:

 -> ls

       type = Network Configuration
       commitpending = (Cannot show property)
       ipaddress = (none)
       ipdiscovery = (none)
       ipgateway = (none)
       ipnetmask = (none)
       macaddress = (none)
       pendingipaddress = x.x.x.x
       pendingipdiscovery = static
       pendingipgateway = x.x.x.x
       pendingipnetmask = x.x.x.x

-> set commitpending=true
Set 'commitpending' to 'true'

 However even after reset of the Blade's Service Processor the new network settings would not take effect
